project brief:
Design the user interface for a vintage clothing app. Target audience is primarily 25 to 34 year olds who want to buy and sell vintage clothing online.
competitor research:
Resale Apps Explored: Vestiaire Collective, ASOS Marketplace, Etsy, Vinted and Poshmark.
Design principles researched: Jakob’s Nielsen’s 10 Usability Heuristics for Interaction Design.
mood board:
The overall mood of Retro Resale brings to mind an eclectic vintage vibe from the 50s, 70s, 90s and beyond, with many eras of fashion represented.
colors:
The color palette is a mix of pastels and earth tones often seen in 50's, 70's and 90's product, decor and design.
typography:
The incentive for picking Century Gothic was finding a font that spanned multiple decades but still looked retro.
logo & icons:
The logo is inspired by mid-century modern motifs. The largest icons were modeled after 90s computer graphics.
user flow chart:
The User Flow was sketched out based on the app's key functionalities:
1. Create a profile
2. Upload items to sell
3. Leave reviews for other sellers
4. Browse product for sale
5. Save items to buy
6. Add items to shopping cart
low fidelity wireframes:
Initial wireframes were sketched out by hand with moderate detail to visualize the layout.
high-fidelity wireframes:
A realistic prototype was created in Figma that would closely resembling the final app design.
